The American Embassy

Emma Brody (Arija Bareikis) flees her boring life, her cheating boyfriend and her overbearing mother by taking a job as a vice consul at the U.S. Embassy in London in this new weekly series that shows some potential. Emma's new adventures start before she even sets foot in Blighty when she meets, and engages in a little airplane-bathroom canoodling with, charming embassy employee Doug Roach (David Cubitt).

Once off the plane, she has a busy first week: meeting her new boss (Jonathan Adams), her new cross-dressing neighbor (Michael Cerveris), her new roommate (Reiko Aylesworth) -- who has a habit of bringing home men and loudly enjoying their company -- and piquing the interest of the very-engaged Lord James Wellington (Nicholas Irons). All this before she loses a child placed in her care and nearly gets blown up by a car bomb. It's a lot for an innocent abroad and the viewers who watch her to take in, but so far it seems to be worth the effort.
