Sweeney
Todd, the impeccable Stephen Sondheim musical about a murderous
barber and the meat pie maker who finds a use for his too closely
shaved clients returns to Broadway in a fascinating revival insiders
are all calling "Teeny Todd". The cast is reduced from
29 to nine actors who also provide the accompaniment, this is the
Grand Guignol petite and thus perhaps more disturbing. Plus who
wouldn't pay to hear Tony winner indie rocker Michael Cerveris sing
(and strum) the glorious score with Evita herself, Patti LuPone
as his demented accomplice on tuba?
