Scene: Lou's Lanes



Ian enters with his guitar case
and goes over to Lou.














Ian:
Hi, Lou.
Shorofsky said you had a gig for me.









Lou:
Yeah, I'd like you to back up
Chris on a special number.


Ian looks over at the stage where
Chris and the band are setting up.









Lou:
You play classical right?









Lou hands him some sheet music.



Ian: <disappointed>
Of course ...
but I'm really more of a rocker.










I was sorta hoping I'd get a shot to
play some of me own stuff.












Lou: <pointing to the sheet music>
You do that justice and that stage is yours.


Ian looks at the cover -
"Hot Diggedity" - Perry Como.






He is at a loss for words..


Lou:
What's the matter?
Too hard for you?








Ian: <understated>
No.. I think I can handle it.










Ian goes up onstage, kneels down
and gets his guitar out.








Chris:
You ready man?

Ian:
He's serious about this then?

Chris:
Who couldn't be serious
about Perry Como?






Chris laughs. Ian remains unthrilled.

They stand and Chris cues the band.









A one and a two...

<singing>
Hot diggedy dog diggedity boom
what you do to me!
It's so new to me.
What you do to me...












Ian starts off well but then loses the rhythm.

Chris notices, motions for them to stop
and goes over to Ian













Chris:
You ready?












Ian:
What?
Oh yeah, sorry about that.


He tries to act as if nothing is wrong,
flexes his fingers.









Chris:
Ok.
We'll take it from the top....










Ian:
Ok.













Ian tosses his tie over his shoulder
with determination and makes an
effort to dig in again...














Chris: <singing>
Hot diggedy dog diggedity boom
what you do to me


It's so new to me.
What you do to me...








Ian starts off well but then seems to get
lost again.










He leans over to the other guitar
player to see what he is doing.













Chris goes over and points to where
Ian should be in the music.












It doesn't help....


Chris:
Boom what you do to me...
When you're holding me tight...
